Retro menu from The Cinnamon Club
Press release:
2001: A SPICE ODYSSEY
In 1968, when Stanley Kubrick created his seminal vision of the future in the science fiction blockbuster 2001: A Space Odyssey, he tackled human evolution, technological advances and the development of artificial intelligence, what he failed to address was that with the turning of the Millennium a culinary revolution was about to occur.
2001 was the year Britain’s favourite cuisine went beyond authenticity with the advent of London’s landmark fine-dining Indian restaurant, The Cinnamon Club. Housed in the dramatic Old Westminster Library, the restaurant’s brigade of exceptional chefs worked to create a menu of Indian food the likes of which the capital had never seen before. One of those chefs, Hari Nagaraj, is now the restaurant’s acclaimed Head Chef, and this August he is turning back time with a retro three course menu celebrating his favourite 2001 dishes.
Ideal for those who want to reminisce about the restaurant’s early days, or simply taste what it was that changed Indian food forever, the specially created menu begins with a decadent complimentary aperitif from the early 21st century cocktail list. Mixes and blends include kiwi bellini; mango vanilla lassi; peach crush and melon base. To make the experience truly exceptional diners may also choose to savour wines expertly paired by Sommelier Mike Worrall.
