The Bar:

 

The award winning design team has delivered three eclectic, quality lounge spaces for RS Lounge guests to enjoy. Featuring a curved, white, Pilipino marble bar and a complete LED lit ceiling, the Main Bar flawlessly combines indulgent wizardry and old style classics. Only accessible from the Al Fresco Terrace or via the 6.3 tone solid glass staircase, the Lounge Bar presents a place for guests looking for a more modest, relaxed experience.

            Lemony and refreshing with notes of peaches and honey, and a hint of white pepper. A medium bodied sake, very smooth, with a long crisp finish (Rice variety – Hitachinishiki.) Served Chilled.

 

 

The Restaurant:

 

Hand picked by an award winning house chef, The RS Lounge prides itself on having a delightful menu of international cuisine. All produce is naturally and ethically sourced, in order to create an array of succulent tastes to impress even the most dedicated palette. With an extensive breakfast menu, fine vegetarian dishes and innovative entrees the RS Lounge offers choices to satisfy any mood, craving or culinary desire. Some house favourites are:

 

-Scottish salmon with scrambled eggs and chives on brioche

-Jalapeno and cheese poppers

-Chicken Tikka Caesar Salad

-White grilled mushrooms marinated with Dijon mustard, olive oil and herbs the –-The House platter which provides guests with nibbles of grilled salmon, dual skewered minced chicken and lamb, smoked lamb, supreme grilled chicken and golden fried squid.

 

Prices: 

 

A typical dinner for two in the restaurant will cost between £35-50 including wine. Cocktails at the bar cost £6.95 up to £7.95.

 

 

Broome & Delance - new restaurant in Battersea Rise, London

Today sees the ascent of a shining new star in Battersea Rise with the opening of Broome & Delancey, south west London’s first New York style brasserie.

Named after two of Manhattan’s most vibrant streets this neighbourhood brasserie combines the best of Parisian glamour and New York vitality to stunning effect. Offering three subtly different spaces, guests can take a seat in the bright and bustling front dining room, the calming rear restaurant or the elegantly handsome champagne and cocktail bar. Alternatively head to the heated al fresco terrace, the perfect spot to watch the world go by. 

Light and airy, the sparkling floor to ceiling windows, intimate antique leather banquette seating and impressive white-tiled open-plan kitchen foster an immediate impression of laidback glamour. A closer look uncovers a modern element, obvious in Broome & Delancey’s original graphic artworks and a number of Luzifer chandeliers hanging like halos around the venue. A bespoke mosaic floor and a number of cosy chairs upholstered with Osborne and Little fabric complete the balance between classic and contemporary.

Head chef Wyatt Shevloff, formerly of All Star Lanes, takes an unfussy approach to eating with the emphasis on good cooking skilfully executed. In true brasserie style, Wyatt has created a menu that encompasses familiar favourites, classic mains, plates for two, crisp salads and sandwiches and small plates for sharing tapas-style. Friends will enjoy trying a few dishes with small plate options such as merguez sausages, confit duck bonbons with smoked chill jelly and baked Camembert fondue, whilst typical starters include crayfish cocktail and potted crab. Mains feature moules frites; Balthazar duck shepherd’s pie with root vegetable mash; or white wine braised hare with summer vegetables, with generous dishes designed for two such as coq au vin or cote de boeuf also on the menu.

In keeping with its American restaurant cousins, options on the breakfast and brunch menu include Delmonico’s eggs benedict (sliced ham, poached eggs and black truffle hollandaise); buttermilk pancake stack with maple syrup; apple and cinnamon toast; or waffles with whipped cream and fresh blueberries. Brunch, lunch or early evening could involve a substantial salad like the classic cob (chicken, Roquefort blue, bacon and eggs, avocado and tomato), a hearty sandwich or a signature B&D hot dog (smoked Toulouse sausage with homemade piccalilli and caramelised shallots).

Tastebud-tempting desserts include crumbly baked New York blueberry cheesecake; white rum and vanilla panna cotta; or fruit and berries served with kirsch sabayon.

At the bar, acclaimed mixologist Tim Oakley (previously of The Establishment and People’s Republic) has created an unashamedly American-biased menu, evident in the refined selection of American whiskeys and bourbons on offer. Signature cocktails include ‘Tea on the Lower East Side’, an intriguing blend of hibiscus tea, cloudy apple juice, fresh lemon juice, Zubrowka vodka and Whitley Neil Gin; and the De Vigne Martini; Cîroc vodka (made from grapes), G’Vine gin (distilled from grapes) and Lillet Blanc, a light, dry vermouth. The wine list gives precedence to both old and new world wines with a diverse choice of varieties and regions, whilst the Enomatic wine system also allows for a generous selection by the glass and carafe.

The team at Broome & Delancey have done their utmost to make parents and children feel welcome. As well as a dedicated kid’s menu featuring favourites like macaroni and cheese gratin, grilled free-range chicken with sweet peppers and mash; and milk chocolate mousse with raspberries, toys will also be available to keep the kids entertained whilst mum and dad enjoy their meal. Finally, a ‘Clean Plate Club’ has also been established to reward good eaters with an after-dinner lollipop.

The Bolingbroke, Northcote Road, Clapham

My lords, ladies and gentlemen, pray raise a glass in honour of Battersea boy,Henry St.John,1st Viscount Bolingbroke,the brilliant politician and reckless rake after whom The Bolingbroke Pub & Dining Room in Battersea is named.Whilst Henry was renowned for his hard drinking, innumerable affairs and wild escapades, Northcote Road’s new nobility The Bolingbroke is destined to be a much more refined local.

From the welcoming bar through to the relaxed dining room, elegance abounds throughout. Like its sister inns The Abbeville and The Stonhouse in Clapham and The White Hart in Kennington, The Bolingbroke puts the emphasis on high quality British food and traditional pub values.Having worked behind the stoves at Bluebird and Smiths of Smithfield and been personal cook to Bryan Adams,executive chef,Massimo Tebaldi,has created a seasonal, British-hearted menu for The Bolingbroke.

Prime produce is of paramount importance,with suppliers including the Wright Brothers for oysters,Westcombe Dairy for Duckett’s Caerphilly and Mike’s Smokehouse for salmon and trout; all of which have familial connections with co-owner Tom Peake.Starters on the weekday dinner menu include a moist, jellied terrine of slow cooked ham hock with parsley, olive and gherkin salad; succulent and delicately Manuka smoked duck breast with fennel,bitter leaves and an English blackberry salad; and Wild Bay Devon crab, avocado, baby gem lettuce and deep fried duck egg. Lovingly crafted, substantial mains include tender roast rabbit leg with braised black cabbage, sautéed wild mushrooms and a silken foie gras and cider sauce; juicy grilled salt marsh lamb steak, complemented by anchovy and caper butter, slow roasted cherry tomatoes and purple broccoli; and flavoursome guinea fowl breast and confit leg, mashed potato, creamed leeks and madeira gravy. Zingy lemon posset and crumbly shortbread; bitter chocolate tart and vanilla ice cream; and apple tart tatin with hokey pokey ice cream are highlights of the pudding menu.On Saturday and Sunday,the classic brunch menu features a full English breakfast;eggs Benedict,royale or Florentine;as well as yoghurt, granola and fresh seasonal fruit. A salubrious Sunday feast could include Duke of Berkshire pork belly with sautéed savoy cabbage, olive oil mash and quince sauce; butterflied leg of lamb, butter beans, chorizo, English spinach and rosemary gravy; or the finest roast beef with Yorkshire pudding and all the trimmings.

For those wanting to enjoy something a little lighter, the bar menu at The Bolingbroke features smaller dishes prepared from the same quality of produce with equal care. Maldon oysters; devilled whitebait and tartare sauce;welsh rarebit; and Mrs King’s pork pie and piccalilli are just a few examples of the fine fare on offer. Any of these will serve as a perfect companion to a pint of Timothy Taylor’s Landlord – which marks another family connection, this time with co-owner Mark Reynolds – Deuchars IPA,Weston’s Organic cider, or perhaps a creation from the list ofclassic cocktails.

The wine list features bins from the old and new world, with many available by the glass or half litre carafe. Notable selections include Chapel Down Bacchus, Kent, 2006 and Michel Picard Saint-Aubin 1er cru, 2004.

The Bolingbroke’s warm welcome extends to all of the family, with toys and games to keep the little ones occupied and a dedicated menu for children that includes real, homemade fish fingers with steamed seasonal vegetables; and funny face fairy cakes that they can decorate themselves.With its solid hardwood bar, polished brass fittings, wood panelling, collection of antique and vintage furniture and comfortable leather seating, the bar is at once sophisticated and inviting. 

Whether bathed in daylight streaming in thorough the glass roof,or with a real fire blazing in the grate during less clement weather,the dining room is a setting befitting the viands it serves. The two rooms are united by a colour palate of soft greys,elegant blues and parchment,as well as a series of 18 th century political cartoons and even a portrait of The Viscount himself,brought together for The Bolingbroke by fine artist Adam Ellis.Open Monday to Friday from noon and from 10am for brunch at the weekends,The Bolingbroke is Battersea’s most blue-blooded boozer.
